A Letter From a Parent...
I enjoyed my "ride-along" observation of my student during her first two "behind-the-wheel" lessons and I learned a lot. As a result, I would encourage all parents to join their son/daughter to do likewise.
Here is what I found:
1) Confidence- Riding along with the instruction, Gina and my stepdaughter, helped build my confidence in her "new" skill as a permit driver. In the words of the young - I had "been-there, done-that" and therefore could confidently get in the passenger seat the next time, trusting my new driver with the wheel.
2) Clarity- I learned along with my student some of the newer techniques being taught today. This included" shuffle steering, the Smith System, always setting the emergency brake, etc. Listening to Gina explain these things helped me to remember just what it was like to be a new driver and helps me to continue to "school" my permit driving in being aware and being safe as we travel the roads together.
3) Communication- Listening to Gina praise my stepdaughter in her new skills reminded me that I need to do likewise. After all, isn't this the best way any of us can learn anything new? It always helps to reinforce the good, safe driving habits that are being instilled. I also found plenty of questions to ask my student driver about the "new-methods" being used in Driver's Ed after my two observational rides, and wouldn't we all like something positive to talk about with a teenager?
I was surprised to learn the Wake's is the only Driver's Education Class that encourages parents to join their students for the first two times behind the wheel. After doing so, I would encourage all parents to do the same and as a result we can help our daughters/sons become the best drivers on the road.

Letters from Students...
Wakes is a fun learning experience that all teens may roll their eyes at, but enjoy non the less. Wake Makes the class more enjoyable than any other driving school just because he is Wake! The building is homey and clean so it doesn't feel like we are being forced to learn................and the office ladies are cool too. :) Yeah!

Wakes has a great learning program. It's fun in class and I learn about more than just how to be a good driver and good road skills, the instructors are amazing and funny and very laid back and interesting. At "Wakes" you learn more than just driving and that's what I love about it.
